Students may encounter error messages when logging in to or using their Halo | Learn classroom. These errors usually indicate an issue with your account and can help identify what needs to be fixed. This article explains the common error messages, what they mean, and how to resolve them. NOTE These errors apply to the Halo | Learn classroom. If you are experiencing issues in the Halo Learn Mobile App, please see the article Halo Learn Mobile App. Expand/Collapse All Errors when Logging In If you see an error while logging in, it usually means there is an account issue preventing access. Error: An unknown error has occurred This error occurs when you attempt to log into Halo without having an account in that system. The best way to access your LMS classroom is through your GCU Portal. The classroom links located in your GCU Portal will always ensure that you are signed into the proper account. If you continue to receive this error, select the Back to Home button and then try to sign in into your Halo classroom again. You will be prompted to select another account, ensure that you are using your GCU email address and password. If you are still unable to access your course, contact Technical Support for your issue to be escalated as necessary. “Error fetching data please refresh page if you continue to see this error contact tech support” This may occur for a few different reasons. One reason is if there is a network issue that prevents the Halo platform from loading. Make sure that you have a working internet connection. If you’re using a work network from your employer and continuously experience this error, we recommend trying again once you are using a personal network. This error could also occur if the class that you are trying to access does not have a faculty member assigned to it yet. This is generally an issue with scheduling, and you can contact Technical Support to confirm if this is the case. You may also receive this error if you are in the wrong role. For example, a faculty may be both an instructor and an instructional assistant for a different class. If you have multiple roles and receive this error after clicking a link to a class from within the GCU Portal, we recommend logging directly into Halo and switching your role. Check out the article (Faculty LMS) Switching Roles for information on how to change your role. This error could also occur if you are attempting to access a class too early. Students generally gain access to courses 3 days before the start date, BUT we cannot guarantee access until the start date of the course. Traditional faculty generally get access 21 days before, and online faculty generally get access 6 days before. Errors in the URL Sometimes the error code appears in the URL. Look for the error in the highlighted portion of the address bar (e.g., halo.gcu.edu/login?error=2). Once you find the error in the URL, you can use the accordions below to see what that error message means and how to resolve the problem. 403 If you see the url has 403, this means that you accessed something that unfortunately you don’t have access to. To resolve this error, click the Back to Home button to get back into your class. Login?error=2 If you see this in the URL, this means that there is not a role assigned to your account in Halo. This is usually because your class was not built, or you were not assigned to a class. If the class start date has passed and you still are receiving this error message, then reach out to Technical Support to determine if the class has been built. Login?error=4 When seeing this in the url, this means that there is not an account found on that instance of Halo. Make sure you are navigating to the correct Halo platform. You can use the article Accessing Your Halo | Learn Classroom to see a list of Halo platforms and who should be accessing those platforms. If you are accessing the right URL, make sure you are using your GCU email address when logging in. If you are, there might be an issue with your GCU email and Technical Support will need to check the primary GCU email.
