In some classes, GCU offers quizzes and assessments through an external learning tool called GCE Tester. This Learning Tool Integration (LTI) allows you to access assessments that were created outside of the Halo classroom and after completing these assessments your grade will be synced.
At this time, students in the CWV courses and some NSG courses will see assessments that are available through the GCE Tester. This article will help you understand how this resource is different and how you can submit your assessments.
Accessing GCE Tester
To access the assessments in the GCE Tester, you will need to locate the assessment from your class. Assessments that are an LTI are labeled with a purple puzzle icon when viewing from the Calendar or Syllabus. Clicking on the assessment will open the assessment details. Once you see the details, select the Open Assignment button.
This will take you into the LTI platform. If your assessment is in the GCE Tester, you should be directed to tester.course.support. Once the page loads, you should now be automatically logged in and can begin your test. To begin, confirm that you are taking the test as yourself and then select Begin the test.
FAQ
There might be a situation for nursing students where you are directed to access the test through a link sent to your email. If you are presented with the following login screen, go ahead and press Log in with Microsoft.
Once on the Microsoft login page, go ahead and log in using your GCU email and password.
There are a few assessments that require password before you complete the assessment. If you are being asked to enter a password before starting the test, locate the password within your assessment details or class syllabus and then select Begin the test button. If you still cannot find the password, please reach out to your instructor for further assistance.
If you refresh your page at all during the quiz, you may receive the 401 error that says “Your LTI Link has expired”.
If you receive this error message, you can navigate back to the quiz from the link to your class.
If you lose internet connection during your assessment, you can always return to your assessment. However, if you run out of time, you will need to reach out to your instructor for further assistance with reopening the quiz. Keep in mind that it is up to the instructor’s discretion to allow a quiz to be reopened.
If you see that the assessment is no longer available and you haven’t taken it yet, the assessment due date has passed. The start and due dates are determined by the assignment start and due date. If you need the assessment reopened, we recommend reaching out to your instructor for further assistance.
