ALEKS is a third-party program that GCU uses in courses like JRE-121, CHM-101, and other math classes. This program links directly into your Halo | Learn classroom and allows you to complete assessments in their system. Assistance with registering and using ALEKS is outside of Technical Support’s scope of service. We recommend contacting your instructor or accessing the ALEKS Support page for user-specific issues. When using the ALEKS system, you will need to download and install the LockDown Browser. This browser is a secure testing system that restricts students from accessing other applications. LockDown Browser can be required for your ALEKS assessments. To download the LockDown Browser, navigate to the LockDown support page. Once on the download page, select the type of computer that you have. Once you have selected the install type, go ahead and open the download file and follow the on-screen instructions. Once you have completed the installation, you should be able to work on the assessments in the ALEKS system. If you are experiencing issues installing the LockDown Browser, we recommend you check out their support page for further assistance. You can access the troubleshooting steps by clicking this link. NOTE If you are using a Windows 10 S or Windows 11 S computer, you may not be able to install the Lockdown Browser onto your computer without adjusting your computer settings. GCU Technical Support cannot walk through changing these settings on your computer, as this will make a permanent change to your device. You can check what version of Windows your computer has by clicking this link.
