Halo is full of different icons and labels, and you might not know what each one means. We’re here to help!
Each of the sections below contain descriptions of labels and icons you can find when browsing the Halo | Learn platform. Simply click on the heading according to which section you’re trying to view. This will allow you to learn about the different available icons corresponding with that topic.
The grading status labels will appear in various areas around your Halo class. These will appear on the corresponding assignments on the Calendar, within the Gradebook, and through each individual topic within the Classroom Materials.

There is no submission made for the assignment. Please note that you will not be able to submit an assignment until the start date of the assignment arrives. |

A submission has been made for the assignment but has yet to be graded by your instructor. |

The submission has been graded by your instructor. |
|
There has not been a submission made between the start and due dates for the assignment. The assignment is “Overdue.” |
|
The assignment has been submitted after the due date for the assignment has already passed. The assignment is “Late.” |
|
The instructor of the class has reassigned the assignment for another submission attempt. This will reopen the assignment drop box, allowing for another submission to be made. |
|
The quiz inside of Halo is currently in progress of being completed. |
|
This indicates the assignment is active for the topic. |
These icons will appear on each assignment and identify what type of assignment it is.

The assessment is a Discussion Question. It can be completed by responding to the corresponding DQ prompt in the Discussion Forums. |

The assessment is an assignment that requires a file submission. Be sure to review the assignment details to ensure you know what type of submission is required! |

The assignment is a CLC group assignment. You will be assigned to a group to work on this with make sure to stay up-to-date on what group members are doing and what you need to do. |

The assessment requires you to respond to the posts by your classmates and instructors within the Discussion Question assessments. Participation requirements may vary, so check the posts made by your instructor to ensure you know what is required. |

A quiz that is taken through Halo. |

An assessment/quiz that is taken through a third-party service such as MyMathLab, WileyPLUS, etc. These are known as LTI assessments. |

An assignment has been reassigned and the date next to this icon is when it is due. |
When completing tasks within the Halo classroom (usually submitting assignments, grading assignments, etc.), there will be statuses showing if there is information relevant to the submission. Be sure to read the associated messages if there are any warnings, errors, or supplemental information that appears with these icons.

Assignments will display traits associated with them, either indicating requirements of or simply providing supplemental information for it.

The assessment is marked as a benchmark assignment. |

The assessment is marked as a practice assignment. This may or may not be worth points. |

This assessment is marked as a group assignment. This will usually involve working with other students in your class to complete the assignment. For more information on group assignments, see (Halo | Learn) Group Collaboration. |

The assessment is marked as a timed assignment. There is a time limit set with the assignment, allowing a limited amount of time to complete it. |
|
The assessment requires a LopesWrite report along with the submission of the assignment. For more information on submitting a LopesWrite report, see LopesWrite. |

The assessment will be completed in person, usually on campus. |
This icon indicates that the students are part of the Honors program. |
