Video Assignment
Video Assignments are tasks where learners complete an exercise and then submit them for review and feedback from their instructor and peers. There are four different assignment types – Individual Project, Question & Answer, Group Project, and Interactive Video.
Individual Projects
Individual projects are done one at a time. In this assignment, students can create video presentation, submit documents, or record meetings.
To start your individual project, navigate to your classroom and click on the Bongo link inside your assignment page. Once you click the link, you will be automatically registered and logged in to Bongo.
On the Bongo page, you will first see the Individual Assignment page. This page contains the Instructions, Work In Progress, and Submission boxes. To add your assignment, click the ADD button inside the Work In Progress box.
Once you click the ADD button, you will see few options such as submit a video, a file, or a link, schedule a meeting, and combine any videos that are already uploaded. Click on the icon of the item that you want to add.
To record a video, click on the VIDEO icon in the Work in Progress box. From here, you will receive options such as RECORD VIDEO using Bongo website or UPLOAD VIDEO from your device. Recording a video using Bongo website allows you to use your web camera and share your desktop at the same time.
Click the checkbox on the left of Webcam. Then, click the RECORD VIDEO button.
On the recording window, click on the RECORD button to start recording.
To stop recording, click the STOP button on the lower left-hand corner of the recording screen.
Once you stop the presentation, you will be given a few options such as delete recording, download recording, or save your recording. Click the Save icon to start the processing of video to Bongo system.
To upload a video click on the VIDEO icon in the Work in Progress box. From here, click the UPLOAD VIDEO button.
On the window that appears, click the DROP VIDEO OR CLICK HERE button to upload video from your device. You could also select Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive to upload video from these external sources.
Once you are ready to submit your video, click the Star icon on the left of the video that you want to submit.
After clicking the Star icon, video will be transferred from Work In Progress box to Submission box. Click the SUBMIT button to submit video.
When hitting the SUBMIT button, you will be prompted to a question if you really want to submit your assignment. Click the YES button to final submit.
Once submitted, you will be redirected to the Individual Assignment page. From here, you will see your grades, items awaiting your review, your submission, and the comments from your classmates.
If you want to reset your submission, click the three dots on the upper right-hand corner of the Individual Assignment page.
On the menu that appears, select Reset Submission option. Then click Reset. Resetting your submission will not remove any of your uploaded videos or file, but it will reopen the assignment page where you can re-select your submission.

Question & Answer
In a Question & Answer assignment, students are given questions and are required to answer within a specified time range.
To start working on your Question & Answer assignment, navigate to your classroom and click on the Bongo link inside your assignment page. Once you click the link, you will be automatically registered and logged in to Bongo.
On the Bongo website, you will first see the Q&A page. This page contains the Questions Answered, Instructions, Questions to be answered, and Recorded Answers. To start answering questions, click the LAUNCH Q&A button.
After clicking the LAUNCH Q&A button, you will be redirected to the question page where you can see your web camera, the START QUESTION button, and the Practice toggle. Click the START QUESTION button to begin.
After you click on the START QUESTION button, the question will appear on your screen. Also, a 10-second timer will appear on your web camera. Once this timer reaches 0, your camera will begin recording.
When recording, you will be given a time range to answer the questions. The white-font timer indicates the time of your recording. The first part of the red-font timer indicates the minimum number of seconds to respond. The last part of the red-font timer indicates the maximum number of seconds to respond.
If you are done recording your answer before you reach the maximum time, click the STOP button to submit your answer. Otherwise, your recording is automatically submitted if you reach or exceed the maximum time to answer.
After you click the STOP button, the “Uploading Result…” text will appear on your screen. Make sure that you do not close your browser while it is uploading.
Once your response is submitted, you will see a timestamp under the Record Answers portion of the question page. This indicates that your answer has been submitted. To continue answering questions, click the START QUESTION button until done.
You can answer the questions one at a time. When you return and complete answering the questions, Bongo will process and submit your recordings to one file.

Group Project
Just like the Individual Project assignments, Group Project assignments allow students create video presentation, submit documents, or record meetings.
To start your individual project, navigate to your classroom and click on the Bongo link inside your assignment page. Once you click the link, you will be automatically registered and logged in to Bongo.
On the Bongo page, you will first see the Group Project page. This page contains the Group Name and members, Instructions, Milestones, Work In Progress, and Submission boxes.
Also, the Group Project page allows you to chat with your groupmates. Simply click the Chat icon located on the upper right-hand corner of the page. You could also see the Activity Log by clicking the Lightning icon.
Similar to the Individual Project, to add a recording, file, or schedule a meeting, you have to click the ADD button under the Work In Progress heading. The added option here is that you can add milestone that could help you and your groupmates keep the project on course. To add a milestone, click the MILESTONE icon.
On the Create Milestone window, you could add a description, milestone date and time, and the owner of milestone. Click the SUBMIT button once done.
Once you submit a milestone, it will be added in the Milestone box on the Group Project page. In this box, you could change the status of a milestone to Open or Completed. You could also edit or delete a milestone by clicking the three vertical dots right next to the milestone.
Once you are ready to submit your video, click the Star icon next to the video that your group want to submit.
After clicking the Star icon, the video will be transferred from the Work in Progress box to the Submission box. Click the SUBMIT button to submit video.
Once submitted, you will be redirected to the Group Project page. From here, you will see your group grade, items awaiting your review, your group submission, and the comments from your classmates.
If your group wants to re-open the submission for any reason (i.e. group member accidentally submitted your assignment), you can reset your submission. Click the three dots on the upper right-hand corner of the Group Project
On the menu that appears, select Reset Submission option. Resetting your submission will not remove any of your uploaded videos or file, but it will reopen the assignment page where you can re-select your submission.
Interactive Video
In an Interactive Video assignment, learners are prompted to answer multiple choice questions or submit video responses at different points throughout a video.
On the Bongo website, you will first see the Interactive Video page. This page contains the Questions Answered, Instructions, and the Interactive Video boxes.
To begin answering the assignment, click the BEGIN ASSIGNMENT button inside the Interactive Video box. After you click this, the Interactive Video will start playing and related questions will appear throughout or at the end of the video.

When you encounter the error “Waiting for Webcam” or “Please make a normal sound” before or during your recording, please do the following:
- Make sure that you meet the minimum system requirements
- Restart your web browser
- Try switching to another web browser (between Chrome and Mozilla Firefox only)
- Check permission settings for webcam and microphone
If you receive the “Processing Error” message on a recorded response within a Q&A assignment, please contact your instructor to reset the video.
If you receive the “Processing Error” message on an uploaded video within an Individual Project or Group Project assignment, please check the following:
- Make sure that your internet connection is stable. Bongo website recommends users to switched to a wired internet connection when wireless connection in unstable.
- Your video file size is too large (maximum of 20GB). Try to reduce your video file size. You may refer to our article How to Zip and Un-Zip Your Files for guidance on how to compress a file.
- Try to re-upload your video.
A PowerPoint slide is not advancing while recording the desktop share. In this situation, make sure that you have Chrome Extension installed on your Google Chrome. You may refer to this Bongo support to article download the related Chrome Extension.
If you receive an error message “Not enough materials to submit”, make sure that you change the status of your submission from Work in Progress to Ready.
If you are seeing the “Not part of a group” message when accessing the Group Project page, it is most likely that your instructor has not added you to a group. To address this issue, reach out to your instructor to be added to a group.
