Submitting Overdue Assignments

In Halo| Learn, students can submit an overdue assignment or quiz without it needing to be reassigned, as long as it has not been graded. Once an assignment or quiz has been graded, it will need to be reassigned by the instructor for the student to be able to make a submission.

If an instructor reassigns an overdue assignment and the new due date that they set expires, the student cannot make any additional submissions. In order to re-open the assignment drop box, the assignment would need to be reassigned a second time.

In the Halo | Learn classroom, all students (regardless of accommodation status will lose the ability to make any changes in their classroom 3 weeks (21 days) after the course end-date.

If you do not have any accommodations...

Per GCU’s policy handbook, students cannot submit a late assignment after the course end date without the instructor’s permission. Once you have permission from the instructor, you can submit the assignment without having the assignment reassigned. If the instructor has already graded the assignment, they will need to reassign the assignment.

If you have accommodations…

Students with accommodations typically have 14 additional days to complete assignments. Therefore, assignments that were originally due on the last day of the class are actually due 14 days after the course end-date for accommodated students. Once the assignment end date has passed, accommodated students will still be able to make a submission for up to 7 days, as long as the assignment they are trying to submit hasn’t been graded. Per GCU’s policy handbook, students will need the instructor’s permission to submit after the due date of the last assignment.

In Halo | Learn, instructors may still accept student assignments via email if that is their preference, but it is completely up to their discretion.
