While GCU Technical Support is here to assist you with any technical issues you may experience during your degree program, the best resource for research-related questions is research.gcu.edu. The website serves as a central hub for all information about research at GCU. If you have a question that isn't related to a technical issue, we recommend checking out research.gcu.edu first.
Occasionally, the GCU IRB will revise the GCU application to simplify the application process. When this occurs, you will need to convert your application to the most recent version.
Checking Draft Status
Your application must be in Draft status (not yet submitted to the board) for conversion to the newest version.
- To verify your application has not been submitted to the board, log into iRIS, and choose My Studies.
- Verify the Study Status is currently in Draft status. For more information on how to check your status, please see (iRIS) How to Track the Status of Your IRB Submission.
If you have started the application form, but not yet completed the application questions, please follow the steps below to convert your application to the newest version:
-
Once you confirm that your application is in Draft status, start by clicking the Pencil and Pad icon to open your submission.
- A message will appear notifying you of the form update to the GCU IRB application. Click Convert to New Form Version.
NOTE If you previously answered questions in the application that are still applicable to your study, they will still be marked as completed. However, some questions you previously answered may no longer be present on the application form due to the update. You may also see new questions that are required for your study.
- Once converted, you will be directed to the first unanswered question. For each question that has not been answered, you will see a message that states “The field above is a required field and cannot be left unselected”. Select your answers and choose Save and Continue to Next Section through each section.
If you have completed the application questions and started the Initial Submission Packet questions, which includes uploading required Study Documents, you will need to convert both your GCU Application and the Initial Submission Packet.
-
Once you confirm that your application is in Draft status, start by clicking the Pencil and Pad icon to open your submission.
- A message will appear notifying you of the form update to the Initial Review Submission Packet. Click Convert to New Form Version.
