The Grand Canyon University mobile student application a great place for both online and campus (traditional) students to quickly access their student information such as their Student ID, counselor, and courses as well as campus information such as the campus map, dining options, and information about Chapel. To download the free mobile application, visit the Google Play or App Store and search for GCU Student. Follow the instructions below to login and access the app on your iPhone or Android device.
Once the app has finished downloading, open the app. All personal information such as courses and card accounts will be unavailable until you are signed into the app. You will still be able to see the Chapel information and adjust basic settings without signing in. However, you will be unable to check into Chapel until you are logged into the app.
To log into the GCU Student app, select the Sign in button in the Sign into your account banner located at the top of the screen.
You will be prompted to sign in with your GCU email address, which is your username@my.gcu.edu.
If you are unable to login with your current GCU password, try Resetting your Password.
You may also be prompted to complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) after successfully signing in to the GCU Student App. If you have any questions or issues concerning MFA, you can check out our Multi-Factor Authentication article for more information.
The Home tab will provide you access to the following information:
- Upcoming Course
- Next Chapel
- Notifications
This section will display the upcoming course in your schedule. If you are a traditional student, it will display the date and time your next class is at. To view all of your classes, select View All.
This section shows the speaker, date, and time of the next Chapel service at GCU. To view more information about Chapel, select View All.
To access your notifications, click the bell icon in the top right corner of your screen. Notifications include those sent out by instructors.
The Student ID tab will display a digital version of your Student ID card. The ID card has a scannable barcode to use at the GCU Library, NerdHerd, or when making purchases with Dining Dollars.
The Map tab will display a numbered map of the GCU campus. If you are using an iOS device, it may ask you if you would like the app to use your location. Pressing Ok will allow you to see where you are located on campus. Use the Home button at the bottom of the screen to return to the full map at any time. Use the Plus and Minus buttons at the bottom of the screen to zoom in and out of the map.
If you are unable to find what you are looking for, you can search building names in numbers in the search bar at the top of the screen. Alternatively, you can use the menu button located to the right of the search bar. This opens a list of building categories. Once you select a category as well as a description of the building.
The Hours tab will display a list of dining locations around campus.
By selecting an option, you will be shown a description of the restaurant along with its hours of operation and location.
Up at the top, there is a Cameras tab. This allows you to see how busy the restaurant is at any given moment.
The More tab will provide you access to the following information:
- Student ID number
- Student Services Counselor
- Chapel
- Schedule
- Card Accounts
- Settings
When you first visit the Chapel tab, you will be asked if you would like to Enable Chapel Check-In which allows the GCU student app to sign you in automatically upon entering the arena. The Upcoming Session section shows the date and time of the next chapel service along with the speaker. The Chapel Sessions section allows you to see the list of planned chapel services along with the date, time, and speaker. If you have checked into a service, it will display a green check mark next to the service.
If you’re still having trouble checking in and you have Bluetooth enabled on your device, then you may use your Student ID as a check-in alternative.
The Schedule section will bring up your current schedule. The tabs at the top of the page allow you to look at scheduled and completed courses instead. By default, these tabs will show all scheduled or completed courses. If you would like to select a semester, click on the drop-down menu for the Term box and select your desired term.
Selecting a specific class will bring up the following information about that class:
- Course Title
- Status of the Course (scheduled, completed)
- Credits
- Delivery Method (online, on-ground)
- Instructor
- Start and End Dates
- Meeting Times
- Building and Room Number
You can also click on the Open Map button at the bottom of the course page to view the location of the class on the GCU map.
The Card Accounts tab will display your current Dining Dollars and Lopes Cash balance.
Selecting an account will open the account’s Transactions where you can view your recent transactions that drew from your semester balance in the last 30 days.
The Budget tab located under the available balance will give you a Daily and Weekly Budget based on your spending habits. The Summary will show how much balance you will have left at the end of the semester.
The Settings page allows you to adjust your app preferences such as:
- Chapel Check-Ins
- Location
- Bluetooth
- Notifications
To log out of the GCU Student App, press the Log Out button located at the bottom of the settings list.
When accessing the GCU mobile app you may run across the error stating “Failed to retrieve data. Please try again.”
If this happens, log out of your mobile app and log back in again with your current GCU password.
If you’re having trouble with the GCU Student app and need to use the features on the app, we have various alternatives for the features on this app.
Our most commonly used alternatives to the GCU Student App are the GCU Life App and the GCU Student ID app. The GCU Life App, will provide access to most of the resources that are available through the GCU Student App, except the Mobile ID which you will need to use your physical ID or the GCU Student ID app. If you do not want to use the GCU Life app, you can use the information below to access the resources that are available through the GCU Student App.
Student Mobile ID
If you need to use your Mobile ID for dining dollar purchases, accessing campus, or for anything else that requires your Mobile ID, you will need to use your physical ID or the GCU Student ID app. If you have lost your physical ID, you can contact your Student Services Counselor for assistance with getting a new one or by going to the ARC (Antelope Recreation Center).
GCU Campus Map
If you need a map of the GCU campus, you can navigate to map.gcu.edu.
Class Schedule
You can access your class schedule from the GCU Student Portal using the Class Schedule/Grades app.
Dining Venues and Line Cameras
If you would like information about the different dining venues located on GCU, navigate to the Campus Dining page. You can also view the line cameras for the different venues from this page.
Counselor Contact Information
Your counselor information can be located in the GCU Student Portal, you can use the article Navigating the GCU Portal to find information on where to find the counselor information.
Dining Dollars Balances and Transaction History
You can access your dining dollars balances through the GCU Student Portal. Navigate to the Finance Hub, select Lopes Cash, and then sign in using your GCU email and password.
Chapel Check-In
To check into Chapel, use your physical student ID card. For information about the Chapel services navigate to the Worship Services section of the GCU Student Spiritual Life page.
