If you have ever contacted GCU Technical Support, you may have heard the phrase: let's try some basic troubleshooting! Basic troubleshooting is a list of steps we take to resolve sign-in issues and browser errors. Try them out for yourself; it's like having one of our very own technicians right there with you!
- Clear your cache and cookies
- Try accessing the page using a private window
- Remove add-ons and extensions
- Update Java
- Update Your browser or Try a different browser
- Reset your browser to default settings
- Allowing Pop-ups on GCU sites
- Ensure all fields in the form are complete
- Check with your network administrator about their firewall policies
- GCU sites requiring your student email address, like the Student Portal, must include your username followed by @my.gcu.edu
- Other GCU websites requiring only your username, like the library and your LMS classroom, should NOT include @my.gcu.edu
- Make sure your Caps Lock key is off
- Reset your password
- For Halo sign-in errors, make sure you are accessing your class through the GCU Portal
- Check for Program updates
- Check for Windows/Mac operating system updates
- Restart your computer
- Repair program via the Window's Control Panel
- Uninstall and Reinstall the program
- Check with your network administrator about port forwarding certain programs
- Make sure the computer is connected to WIFI or local network
- Determine the connection type (work, personal, public)
- Troubleshoot your Internet Connection
- Test an alternate network if available
NOTE Although basic troubleshooting may resolve most browser or sign-in issues, restarting your computer can help the changes go into effect. Try it out!
