This article provides troubleshooting steps for both Citrix Workspace and the version of Citrix Receiver downloaded through myapps.gcu.edu. For information on the new Citrix Receiver through Citrix Workspace, please see Using Citrix Workspace article.
There may be times during the initial installation of SPSS that your computer is not able to recognize how to open the program. Some common errors are:
When encountering issues opening SPSS through Citrix, it is best to ensure that Citrix has been installed.
Go to the Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Locate and confirm Citrix Receiver or Citrix Workspace is installed.
If Citrix is not installed, follow the steps for installing Citrix in the Using Citrix Workspace article.
Navigate to https://myapps.gcu.edu/ and open SPSS.
When opening SPSS in Citrix, SPSS will populate as a download in the lower left-hand corner for Google Chrome (pictured below); in Mozilla Firefox, a pop-up will appear: select Open With and Browse for Citrix Connection Manager.
If the Citrix Connection Manager has not already set itself as the default for opening .ica files, SPSS will not open and you will need to manually set the Citrix Connection Manager as the default to open programs.
Navigate to your Downloads folder and locate the R0NVWEE2NS5TUFNTIFN0YXRpc3RpY3M-.ica file. Right-click on the file and select Properties.
In the file’s properties window, edit the program that the .ica file opens with by selecting Change.
Select Citrix Connection Manager as the application to open .ica files with and then click OK.
If Citrix Connection Manager is not listed, select Look for another app on this PC.
A file finder will open up, select the This PC folder and then in the upper right-hand corner search for wfcrun32.exe. Once the wfcrun32.exe program has been found, select the file and click Open. The ICA file will now be properly associated with Citrix.
If you receive the following error when launching the SPSS .ica file, restart your computer, go to myapps.gcu.edu, and launch SPSS again.
If you are using Safari and get the Unblock the Citrix plug-in error message while attempting to access myapps.gcu.edu, as seen below, click Safari from the Menu bar at the top of the screen and select Preferences.
On the preferences dialog that appears, select Websites and then, under Plug-ins (left-hand side), select Citrix Receiver or Citrix Workspace. In the Citrix plug-in settings, set myapps.gcu.edu to off as seen below.
When saving files in Project, you may encounter an error stating that you do not have permission to save in your Local Disk C: drive.
This is a result of blocking access in the security alert upon accessing Project. If you encounter this error, ensure that you have followed the steps for Microsoft Project in the Using Citrix Workspace article.
When working in Citrix/SPSS, if items can’t be clicked/selected or if the cursor for a computer is not interacting with Citrix correctly, the screen resolution may cause causing the issue. In order to solve this, simply change the screen resolution of the computer to 100%. For more information on how to change a computer’s screen resolution, check out Changing Your Screen Resolution.
