LMS WalkMe Guides
Are you trying to do something specific in your LoudCloud or Halo class, but you're not sure what to press? We now have WalkMe guides that can assist you with this! These guides will walk you step-by-step through different processes directly in the class. For more information, please visit our LMS WalkMe Guides article.
Congratulations on your acceptance to Grand Canyon University! The first step to being a new student is to set up your GCU username and password.
Set Up Your Account on the GCU Portal
To set up your account, navigate to the GCU Portal and select Student Access. You should have received an email with your GCU email address and a temporary password. Enter that email address and password, and then follow the prompts to set up password recovery options. Once you’ve completed the set-up process, you will be automatically logged into the portal. To reset your password, you will need to log out, and then select Forgot Password during the login process. A step-by-step guide for this process can be found in the article: Password Reset Process.
Once your account is set up, the next step is exploring your GCU Portal and becoming familiar with all the information and resources it provides. From the GCU Portal, you have access to a wealth of information, including links to your courses, your counselor's contact information, learning resources, and your student email.
We know it might be difficult to remember the login information for all of the resources provided by GCU. For more information on the login credentials for different websites and resources, check our Student Login Information article.
Set Up Your Student Email
Accessing and setting up your student email is important to communicate with your classmates and instructor. Once you have access to your email, you can download and install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus for free! This special offer, which gives you access to the latest Office programs, is available while you are an active student with GCU.
Access Your Courses
Once your email is set up, you will be ready to access your courses! The GCU Portal provides direct access to all of your active courses from the My Courses section of the home page. Clicking the link to your course will take you into the learning management system (LMS) that houses your class. There are multiple LMS websites, and each contains specific classes. We recommend using the class link in the GCU Portal since it will always take you to the correct LMS for your class, but you can also access each LMS directly (see Accessing Your LMS Classroom for details).
Just like in traditional classes, it’s important to introduce yourself to your classmates. You can let your fellow students and your instructor know a little bit about yourself by posting to the Class Wall (if your class is in the LoudCloud LMS) or posting to the Class Introductions (if your class is in the Halo | Learn LMS). Many of our courses also have eBooks; however, not all courses have eBooks, so make sure to check Canyon Connect for your specific course!
Get to Know Your Resources
Once you’re ready to begin working on assignments, be sure to check out the Student Success Center. It contains information for specific colleges at GCU, writing tools, style guides and templates, and many more useful resources to assist you with your coursework.
We want you to be prepared to start your education with us, so we provide interactive training sessions through our Student Success Webinars. These online seminars cover topics like navigating the Student Portal and the LMS. The sessions are taught in real-time and give you the opportunity to ask questions to our technicians.
If you can’t make it to one of our webinars for the LMS, check out our Test Drive websites! These webpages will give you the opportunity to explore the LoudCloud and/or Halo | Learn environments before starting your courses:
Of course, our Help Center is always available for any questions you may have. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you on your educational journey. Welcome to Grand Canyon University!
