The Class Questions feature is a forum in which students can submit and answer questions. Any question that is submitted can be answered by the instructor or other students in the class. Faculty are tasked with clicking Official Answer once the correct answer has been provided. To view all questions, start by navigating to the Class Questions section of Halo | Learn.
The Class Questions section is split into three categories: Open, Answered, and All.
- Open: Contains unanswered questions, or questions that have been responded to but not marked as “Officially Answered”.
- Answered: Contains questions that have been confirmed with an Official Answer by the faculty.
- All: Contains all questions, regardless of whether they have been responded to or marked with an official answer.
To reply to a question, select Reply.
Reply to the question within the text box. If you are providing an answer, select the Mark As Official box. Once you’re ready, click Post.
All questions marked with an official answer will appear within the Answered tab at the top of the page. Once a question has an official answer, further replies to the question will be blocked.
If another student replies to a question within the Class Questions forum, review the response and determine if it is correct. If it is, click the Official Answer button in the upper right corner of the response. Doing so will move the question to the Answered tab at the top.
Students may post a public question in the Class Questions forum that should have been submitted through the Messages view. If this occurs, you can mark the post as private to prevent other students from seeing it. To do so, click the three dots to the right of the question and select Mark As Private.
A pop up will appear, notifying you that the post and all replies will be hidden. Once you make a post private, it cannot be undone. Select Mark as Private if you’re sure in your decision.
The post will be automatically converted into a message in the Messages view. Navigate to the Messages view in order to reply to the student’s question.
There are a number of reasons why you may need to hide a student’s response to a question. To hide a response, select the three dots in the upper right corner of the post and click Hide.
The post will now be hidden from other students. Only the instructor can see the post. If you would like to make the post public again, select the three dots and click Reveal.
When a student posts a class question, Halo will provide you with a notification icon next to the Class Questions tab in the navigation menu. Marking any response as an official answer will remove the notification for that question.
