Throughout your studies at Grand Canyon University, you will participate in a wide range of group projects known as Collaborative Learning Communities, or CLC. These groups function differently depending on the LoudCloud platform you are using. If you are a traditional student (someone who attends classes on the physical campus) refer to the Traditional Students header below. If you are an online or cohort student, refer to the Online and Cohort Students header.
Traditional Students
Traditional students have the ability to create their own CLC groups or join a preexisting one that was created by their instructor. Your instructor will direct you as to which option will be used for your specific course. Click the headings below for instructions on how to create a group, join a group, or access your group forum.
Start by navigating to the Assignment Details page for the CLC assignment.
In the upper right-hand side, click the Join Group button.
Click the Create New radio button from the pop-up window. Choose a group name for your CLC team. You can now add any students that are listed in the Students Available section; these students have not yet committed to another group for the assignment. Place a check next to their names and click the right arrow to add them to your group.
You will see their names listed under the Added to Group section. Once you have finished adding your team members, click Create.
You will receive a message that your group was created successfully. Click OK to confirm and your page will refresh.
Now your Assignment Details page will look a bit different. Instead of the Join Group button, you will see My Group and Group Forum.
Your team members must also confirm their membership to the team. You can also retract your request if you accidentally chose the incorrect student. Once your teammates have confirmed their membership, their names will disappear.
As the team leader, you may also receive requests from fellow classmates to join your group. You can either accept or reject these requests by clicking their respective buttons.

Online and Cohort Students
Online students will have groups created for them by their instructor. Your CLC group forum can be accessed by navigating to the Tasks tab, and then selecting Forums.
Click your CLC Group from the list of options. Your specific group name may differ from what is shown below.
This is where your group can communicate privately and discuss the various projects you have been assigned. Utilizing this forum is similar to the individual forum and questions to instructor forum. You will want to create a New Topic.
Enter a Title, Description, and click Submit.
You can respond through the forum by selecting any topic from the forum.
Click reply to respond to the forum.
Once you have completed your assignment, one person will upload and submit the attempt. Once one person submits the assignment, it will close the dropbox for all students in the group.
